Launched in June 2025, HAWK3 was developed in response to customer feedback calling for smarter, more efficient photocells. It goes beyond standards such as BS5972 which was published over 40 years ago, by offering refined digital switching, tighter tolerances, and ultra‑low power consumption (as low as 0.1W). These features help lower burn hours and reduce energy costs, without compromising reliability.
Sustainability is at the heart of HAWK3’s design. The product is built with fewer components, has a clip‑on frosted cone for easier disassembly, and uses laser marking instead of adhesive labels, all aligned with cradle‑to‑cradle thinking. These design choices reduce material waste, support future recyclability, and help customers meet circular economy goals.
Other key benefits include moulded gaskets for durability, coloured identification bands for easier maintenance, and options to fit legacy networks through compatibility with both 3‑pin and 5/7‑pin NEMA sockets. Early feedback from lighting professionals at ILP Lighting Live has been positive, with strong interest in replacing older analogue photocells with HAWK3.
